Flood Warning for the Logan Albert River basin

Initial Major Flood Warning for the Logan and Albert Rivers

Issued at 7:28 pm EST on Thursday 6 March 2025

Flood Warning Number: 1MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BEAUDESERT FROM FRIDAY MORNING

Minor flooding is expected from Friday morning at Beaudesert, with moderate to major flooding possible during Friday with forecast rainfall. Flooding is likely to develop further downstream from later Friday into Saturday.

Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Tropical Cyclone Alfred has been recorded across the upper Logan catchment during Thursday and is expected to intensify and spread further throughout the catchment during Thursday night. Forecast heavy to intense rainfall has the potential to cause dangerous and rapid river level rises along the Logan and Albert rivers and its tributaries.

 Major flooding is possible from Friday afternoon with forecast rainfall, and further rises are possible over the next several days  .A Flood Watch is current for South East Queensland, Condamine and Border Rivers. 

A Tropical Cyclone Advice, Severe Weather Warning and Coastal Hazard Warning are current for southeastern Queensland, including the Darling Downs and Granite Belt.

Logan River to Yarrahappini:

Major flooding may occur along the Logan River to Yarrahappini.

The Logan River at Beaudesert is currently at 1.77 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (5.50 m).  The Logan River at Beaudesert is likely to exceed the minor flood level (5.50 m) Friday morning.   The river level may exceed the moderate flood level (7.80 m) and major flood level (8.30 m) during Friday.

 Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.

Logan River downstream of Yarrahappini:

Moderate flooding may occur along the Logan River downstream of Yarrahappini.

The Logan River at Maclean Bridge is currently at -0.06 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (10.00 m). 

River level rises are expected from Friday, and minor to moderate flooding is likely at the Logan River at Maclean Bridge during Saturday. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.

The Logan River at Waterford is currently at 0.90 metres and falling with the tide.  River level rises are likely from Friday, and minor to moderate flooding is likely at the Logan River at Waterford during Sunday, with further rises possible.

River level rises are likely from Friday, and minor to moderate flooding is likely at the Logan River at Parklands during Sunday, with further rises possible.

Albert River:

Moderate flooding is likely along the Albert River.

The Albert River at Wolffdene is currently at 0.85 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (6.00 m).   River level rises are expected from Friday, and minor to moderate (8.00 m) flooding is likely along the Albert River at Wolffdene during Saturday.  Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.

The Albert River at Beenleigh is currently at 0.42 metres and falling.  River level rises are likely from Friday, and minor to moderate flooding is likely at the Albert River at Beenleigh during Saturday, with further rises possible.
