The lights welcoming people to the Gold Coast beside the M1 at Yatala were installed prior to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games for a cost of 2.1 million dollars.
In 2023 the Gold Coast City Council resolved to remove the lights but nothing has been done.
The Council has now been advised of the unexpectedly high cost of removal and has now decided they are to stay!
