Police have charged two men in relation to 14 break ins at petrol stations which occurred in Brisbane’s south and on the Gold Coast between August 30 to October 3.
Bayside police began investigating a series of linked incidents alleged to involve offenders who heavily concealed their identities breaking into multiple petrol stations across Ormiston, Rochedale, Browns Plains, Upper Coomera, Capalaba, Wishart, Eight Mile Plains, Underwood, Coopers Plains, Sunnybank, Runcorn, and Coomera.
It will be further alleged the offenders were targeting cigarettes.
Police will allege, while responding to an active break in at a Miami service station on October 14 they took two men into custody. Subsequent investigations have led to a 29-year-old Beenleigh man being charged with 14 counts of enter premise and commit and contravene requirement, one count each of receiving tainted property, stealing, attempted enter premises, possessing dangerous drugs, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear before Southport Magistrates Court on October 29.
A 19-year-old Holmview man has also been charged with 14 counts of enter premise and commit and contravene requirement, two counts of attempted enter premises, one count each of receiving tainted property, stealing, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is expected to reappear before Southport Magistrates Court on November 12.
