A night-time aerial survey of the powerlines in e Brisbane area is scheduled to take place on Sunday 28th, Monday 29th, and Wednesday 31st
- Survey Schedule: Sunday 28th, Monday 29th, and Wednesday 31st July 2024, from 11pm to 5am.
- Survey Company: Fugro, a geo-data company contracted by Energy Queensland (the parent company of Energex, Ergon, and Yurika).
- Purpose: The survey aims to inspect and identify overhead conductor clearance issues and vegetation encroachments. This is crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of electricity supply throughout Queensland.
- Scope: The project involves approximately 3000 flight hours to scan 250,000 kilometres of the overhead electrical network across Queensland, including Greater Brisban
- What you can expect: To meet Energy Queensland’s requirements, a twin-engine aircraft will be flying at low altitudes between 1800ft (549m) and 5000ft (1524m) above ground level between 11pm and 5am during the survey.
- Operational Considerations: Due to high volumes of scheduled air transport operations at Brisbane Airport, the survey can only be conducted at night during periods of very low traffic.
- The survey aircraft will operate in a grid-type (parallel) format to efficiently cover the designated areas.
