Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical
The show directors, Katya Pianca and Skyah Fishpool have said the following:
"Zoo Wee Mama! Putting on a show in two weeks (a mere ten days!!) is no easy feat. And yet, the young actors in Beenleigh Theatre Group's DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: THE MUSICAL have grabbed this challenge with both hands, looked adversity directly in the eyes (challenging it right back) and have absolutely run with it.
Each actor in this production has shown significant dedication, resilience and tenacity when it comes to their craft, and I, along with the production team are so proud of them and their efforts.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a fun anecdote on the journey of child becoming teen, juxtaposing superficial importance to what truly is important: friendship.
This book series, movie series and now musical production is so popular worldwide that it fits inside its own recognisable canon. And while we wanted to stay true to the original material, honouring the imagination and cartoonistic features of the series, we also wanted to create something new – something that was our very own.
And with that, I hope that each actor takes a piece of this show with them as they venture on in their lives (hopefully continuing in the theatre realm!), forging friendships as solid as Greg and Rowley."
